The new members were welcomed and were given a brief recap of our last meet up and also what the group stands for.
Tech talk: "Digital Marketing" by Pelumi Adebayo.
In preparation for IWD: More ideas were welcomed. All members were asked to play their part towards the success of the event, especially publicity.
The Talk
Digital marketing is the marketing of products or services using digital technologies, mainly on the Internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising, and any other digital medium.
Digital marketing since its existence has changed the way brand and business use technology for marketing.
Digital marketing method ranges from search engine optimization(SEO), Search engine marketing(SEM), Content marketing, Influencer Marketing, Content automation, Campaign marketing, Data-driven marketing, E-commerce marketing, Social media marketing, social media optimization, email direct marketing, display advertising, etc
To be a digital marketer, you must understand how to use every bit of the internet for your marketing, from social media to search engines and various online marketing tools. You must Build customer relationship and understand how analytics works so as to analyze your marketing outcome.


As digital platform are increasingly incorporated into marketing plans and everyday life, and as people use digital devices instead of visiting visible shops, the digital marketing campaign is becoming more prevalent and efficient. If you are looking to break into the digital marketing industry, here are tips for you;
Every digital marketer should have a personal project to test out theories, try your hands on multiple marketing disciples (SEO, PPC, Social media content, marketing etc).

Be a good content writer.
Build A strong online presence: If you want to show an employer that you can build their company visibility, then you need to show that you can firstly build your personal brand.
Get nerdy: a basic knowledge of programming and graphics design would help in your career as a digital marketer.

Certification: If you really want to stand out from your peers in the industry, completing a certified digital marketing course will help. (recommended: Google's Digital marketing Skills For Africa)

International Women's Day 2018 Wrap Up Event Report

The 2018 Women TechMakers IWD held at Ekiti State University to celebrate and encourage women in technology was loaded with fantastic memories to last a lifetime. The event which was packaged together with efforts of the amazing organizers in the community was held at a beautiful atmosphere with best desserts, attractive swag and special kind of menu of menus to give lovely memories. Lest I forget, turn up was awesome, we had over 100 attendees.     Apart from all the goodies the event came with, The event also brought together speakers across different technology niche and as a result included talks on numerous topics which had compelling impact to everyone present.
